ArtsyMama here. Switching gears from doing Dailog Day in April, to Interview Day in May. I love doing interviews. I did several interviews with mixed media artists, scrapbookers and others when I began my blog. It was fun to hear about the interconnectedness of art and blogging. I am always curious how people make it all work together and how blogging has played a role in thier art.
This month I have many fun blogger friends on tap to talk with. First up is the fabulously over-the-top creative Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom fame. She also has a blog here. If you aren't familar with Jennifer's work, be sure and check it out. She has such a wonderfully festive, beautiful, vintage-inspired style. I "sat down" to chat with Jennifer.
My day job more often than not involves caring for a blundery dog and a thirteen year old who loves Teen Vogue and a Seventeen year old who’s lifes ambition is to make us a MAC family no more PC…They both have the fleamarket Gene which I take full credit for and as most creative stay at home mom knows a life of interruptions sometimes predictable sometimes unforeseen but always an opportunity to be the best mom I can be… I have a wonderful hands on husband who supports me full heartedly and that is the biggest secret to my success…Behind every great woman….then there’s George who’s love for me is immediate and caring my very own built in nurturing oversized Labradoodle..
How do you define creativity? What does it look like in your life?
Creativity doesn’t wait for perfect moments although I do fall into the allure of huge chunks of time with me and the gluegun but the demands of a business take me from the studio and so I take every moment in time as a creative moment everything inspires if I’m not tearing things out of magazines I’m engrossed on line with other bloggers works that inspire me..Creativity looks like chaos has struck…I try to have order there is organization but when I work I focus on the project at hand and not the creative messiness that surrounds me…Creativity is a process but I do try to complete things because it makes me feel complete as an artist ½ baked doesn’t work for me…
What allows you to be most creative?
My Creativity really starts with a trip to the fleamarket that’s where most of it originates …I am comfortable there anonymously I dig through treasures and I come home wash and clean and I am good to go…I am fired up….
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging around 6 months ago when a very close friend introduced me to some very creative people and I wanted to be a part of that world… What prompted you to start? I started because I knew it was the right format for me to express my creative side with a supportive nonjudgemental community…What was your
motivation? My motivation was to educate people to my work but more importantly the fellowship of other bloggers…
Who/what are your major influences and inspirations in your blogging?
Other artists and their authenticity….
How does blogging reflect (and/or feed) your creativity?
Blogging for me is like putting highheels on It’s my best presentation forward.....I will be changing the look soon to reflect a more professional blog it’s important to me as an artist …and to also connect with other bloggers through links etc… Has it changed
your creative process? Definitely it challenges me to express newness to be bolder to go out on a limb…to not be satisfied with mediocre….when business takes the wheel I find the details are sacrificed and I’m trying to stay in the moment and not let the rush of success rob me of that…It’s a balancing act for sure…but it’s about being true to myself…
Blogs can be very intimate; do you enjoy showing a different side of
yourself?
I do but my blogging has been rushed..I write in a journal 3 pages everymorning so I find I want to get my message across and move on when it comes to blogging…..the blogs I like are rich with links and sharing so I want to get better at that....I need to honor where I’m at, it’s a busy lifestyle but I wouldn’t have it any other way….. It’s my nature…

thanks so much for including me in this wonderful collective so grateful to Kari and everyone else ...thanks a ton... Jennifer
