Create, Connect, Have fun!(Try It Day)
Good Morning Everyone:
I am very happy and Elated to be part of this community...:)
I am in awe on the talents that are showcased.
Have you noticed the number of companies that are offering Digital versions of their products from Tinkering Ink to others? As a graphic designer I am elated to see Digital be embraced by the industry.
There's a great movement now to bridge digital with traditional art, that movement is called Hibryd. Scrapbook Dimensions Magazines is at the forefront featuring tutorials and steps by steps instructions for learning the Hibryd method. Find more tutorials by using your graphic software here
Michele Ciola owner of theShakerbox.com is a great example of traditional scrappers embracing the hibryd movement. She states at first she would not have gone digital, she loves the feel of paper and elements, and the feel of glue to go completely digital.
Since going hybrid she is having fun, creating more and loving the idea of using her graphic software to create her own unique elements.
She has taken this movement so far, as to create a kit club to incorporate digital elements with traditional paper supplies.
Creating with your computer is easy and fun! Today we are going to create word art that can be printed at home or at a print shop such as kinko's, for cards, Scrapbooking and crafts. You don't need to be a graphic artist, just have fun...
Let me explain a bit what word art is: It is the creations of using sentiments, quotes, in a unique way with fonts. It can be simple or ornate. For our first time we will keep it simple:)
These steps can be used in Word as well if you don't have a graphic program.
One of my favorite way to use word art is to print on vellum and use them for cards or incorporate them in my journals or Scrapbooking.
Let's begin!
I follow 3 basic rules when creating word art.
Rule number 1
Use one basic font and one decorative font. Anything over 2 loses it's appeal.
Rule number 2
Highlight only 3-4 words in a word art and add a very slight shadow of 1 to emphasize the words.
Rule number 3
Create each sentence on it's own layer.
Detail instructions on how to create a word art.
First select your quote, you can find quotes at QuoteGarden.com, Twopeasinabucket.com and other sources on the web.
Open your Graphic program
Open a layer at 300DPI size at least 2400 if you are using 12x12 LO.
Select your font and create your first line
Select the word you want to emphasize and change your font size then add a slight shadow of 1
Play around with the placement until you are satisfied.
Add remaining lines and follow the first step for emphasis.
Save your layers as PSD depending on the graphic program.
Other ideas for Word art, you can incorporate frames, numbers, color your fonts, add textures.
For Word users you can use existing shapes to make it more fun.
